The Next Assassin’s Creed Might Be Set In Feudal Japan

Although the next installment in the Assassin’s Creed series might not even have hit the shelves yet, Reddit sleuths are already pretty convinced they know where the next-next Assassin’s Creed game might be set.

A Reddit user by the name of DoktahManhattan noticed something pretty interesting when playing through Assassin’s Creed III, and it seems to suggest the next game in the series could be set in Feudal Japan.

The user posted a screenshot from the game to Reddit, where fans quickly got to speculating about it could mean. The image shows three symbols, which appear to be an Ancient Egyptian hieroglyphic, the Greek symbol for ‘omega’ and something which is speculated to be a ‘torii,’ the gateway of a Japanese Shinto shrine.

The post has led Reddit sleuths to deduce that these three symbols represent the series’ current slew of games.

The hieroglyph could represent Assassin’s Creed: Origins, which took place in Egypt. Next, the omega symbol seems to represent the upcoming Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey, which is of course set in Ancient Greece.

If this turns out to the be the case then it’s not too much of a stretch to believe that a Japanese title is the next in the series – with the torii potentially meaning we’re finally going to Feudal Japan.

This is an exciting prospect, as fans have been asking for a visit to the world of Assassins and Templars in Feudal Japan since the release of Assassin’s Creed II.

Do you think Ubisoft are finally taking the series to Feudal Japan, or is this just a coincidence?

The next in the franchise, Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey, is due for release on 5th October, 2018.

Fans are eagerly awaiting the launch of the game as it boasts beautiful graphics and promises a return to the rich and complex world of the AC universe.
