We Could Be Seeing The Next Xbox At This Year’s Gamescom

The next-next gen console rumours have been flying for a while now, and although the gaming community is split on the idea of the PlayStation 5 or Xbox Two releasing just yet, it looks like Microsoft isn’t going to stop teasing us.

It’s now being reported that “all-new Xbox hardware” will be unveiled at this year’s Gamescom, and the information has gotten the gaming community all hot and bothered.

Xbox boss Phil Spencer confirmed back at E3 that work has already begun on Microsoft’s new consoles (yes – plural!), saying: “The same team that delivered unprecedented performance with Xbox One X is deep into architecting the next Xbox consoles, where we will once again deliver on our commitment to set the benchmark for console gaming.”

Now it is incredibly unlikely that Spencer and his team already have the Xbox Two, Three and Four to show off in just a month’s time, but stranger things have happened before, and even if we’re not getting an update on the production of new consoles, gamers are still curious as to what the gaming giant might be revealing…

The likelihood is that we’ll getting the official announcement of the previously-leaked Xbox Elite controller, which looks beastly but also very expensive.

Leaked on Chinese website Baidu and later verified by The Verge, the images showed a USB-C charging port and the controller will reportedly have three-level Hair Trigger Locks, Windows 10 Bluetooth support and more.

The following image was then uploaded to Reddit via user EDDS86, showing off the controller.

Just because there’s a controller doesn’t mean we won’t be getting any other hardware at Gamescom though, and fans couldn’t be more excited to see what Microsoft is planning for the future.

Gamescom will be kicking off at the end of August, with the Inside Xbox stream scheduled from 3.30pm (UK time), Tuesday 21st August.
