Xbox chief Phil Spencer has recommended “special” and magical indie game, Lost Words: Beyond the Page.
“I’m playing this game and it’s really a special game. Fantastic atmosphere, writing, and mechanics. If you haven’t given it a try I recommend it,” tweeted Spencer, retweeting the trailer from the Lost Words Twitter account.
Lost Words: Beyond the Page is about a girl that aspires to be a writer and has a wonderful imagination when it comes to telling her stories.
However, when an earth-shattering moment impacts her life, Izzy uses her journal as a method to cope with life’s struggles.
The game is a platforming title with puzzle elements, and by the looks of it, players must piece together Izzy’s words in her journal which will manifest into the enchanting magical fantasy world of Estoria.
After watching the brief launch trailer, Lost Words: Beyond the Page kinda reminds me of the indie-developed title published by Ubisoft, Child of Light from 2014.
Lost Words: Beyond the Page is developed by Sketchbook Games and Fourth State, and published by Modus Games. The story is also written by award-winning writer Rhianna Pratchett, daughter of fantasy writer Sir Terry Pratchett, and a writer on games including 2013’s Tomb Raider and Mirror’s Edge.
Lost Words: Beyond the Page is available now for PC, PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, and Google Stadia.
