The end of the month is generally the best time. It’s payday and it’s time for your free (well, sort of free) games with either (or both) Xbox Gold and PlayStation Plus.
Microsoft has just unveiled its new selection of free (sort of) games and they’re actually pretty good!
If you have an Xbox Gold subscription then you can pick up Forza Horizon 2 and For Honor for your Xbox One, or Dead Space 3 and Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two for your Xbox 360.
Also, the Xbox 360 games are backwards compatible, which means you can still play them on your Xbox One. Hooray!
Not bad offerings at all, especially when compared to previous months…
Forza Horizon 2 is the open-world racing game that got everyone talking back in 2014, and it’s a lot of fun if it’s not already in your gaming library. If you’re keen to give it a go, it’s available to download from 1st August 2018.
For Honor sees Knights, Vikings and Samurai battle is out in a classic melee combat game that really is an icon in the melee genre. This game won’t be available until 16th August, but it’s definitely worth the wait.
Dead Space 3 is alien horror that really needs no introduction. It’s one of the Xbox 360’s most popular games ever, and you can play it all online in co-op mode. Download it from 1st August.
Epic Mickey 2 is Mickey Mouse at his finest, offering a brilliant co-op game where you save the world with a magic paintbrush.
For PlayStation Plus subscribers though, we’re sadly missing the memo on the new free downloads…
Usually the PS games are announced in the final week of the month, but thanks to some delays from Sony, we’re yet to see what’s coming for PS gamers.
The PS Plus announcement is speculated to be on 1st August – it’d better be a good one to make up for keeping us in suspense!
What games would you like to see next month and are you happy with the latest offerings?
