It seems that Supermassive’s next game The Quarry will be completely beatable without pressing a single button in the game’s Movie Mode.
Last week, we were treated to 30 minutes of gameplay of The Quarry. It gave us our first proper look at the game, and the kind of thing we can expect from it. Now, a new preview from IGN provided a few extra details on the game. Most interestingly is the fact that The Quarry will have a Movie Mode.
According to the preview, the Movie Mode will basically let you take a massive backseat, and let the game play out almost however it wants. Players do get to have some input though, as you can predetermine the behaviour of all nine characters before the story starts.
This certainly sounds like a unique way to experience the game. And it almost sounds like you get to have your own personally catered for slasher movie. It also sounds like a great way of getting to experiencing a number of story beats without actually having to play through the game multiple times.
The 30 minutes of gameplay we saw last week certainly makes it seem like Supermassive is returning to its roots. The Quarry is billed as a spiritual successor to the studio’s first game, Until Dawn. And it will be separate from the Dark Pictures Anthology the developer has been building up over the last few years. So if you’re looking for something similar to Supermassive’s early days, The Quarry will likely be for you.
