Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020) is now playable using a VR headset thanks to a free update which is officially live right now.
The highly anticipated news was delivered (sadly not via air mail) on Xbox.com, where it was revealed the incredibly detailed flight sim is about to get a whole lot more immersive.

As detailed on the website, Microsoft Flight Simulator has always been about recreating: “realism, accuracy, and authenticity of flight.” Now it’s definitely going to be stepping up its game!
From what I hear Microsoft Flight Simulator is no game for the casual player as it has a very, very steep learning curve and that’s just how fans of the iconic series want it.

However if there was one major aspect missing from Microsoft Flight Simulator it would be being able to play the game using a VR headset, and now that piece of the puzzle has been delivered.
The developers of Microsoft Flight Simulator at Asobo Studio have worked closely with the community to ensure that VR is the perfect fit for the game.
In a recent developer diary-style video, UX Designer of the Holoforge François Dacquin spoke of how VR was implemented into Microsoft Flight Simulator. Check out the video below!
The headsets supported for Microsoft Flight Simulator are as follows: Oculus, Valve, HTC and the most recent Windows Mixed Reality Headsets such as the HP Reverb G2.
Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020) is available now for PC and will release for Xbox Series X|S sometime in 2021.

A version of Microsoft Flight Simulator is planned for the last-gen Xbox One and Xbox One X|S, but I have a feeling that this game might be too much for the consoles to handle, unless it’s seriously dumbed down.
