The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and Majora’s Mask could be coming to Nintendo Switch, according to industry insider NateDrake [via WCCFTech].
Released back in 1998 and 2000 respectively, the Nintendo 64’s 3D Zelda titles marked a turning point for the series while often being recognised as the best games in the series. Despite this, Nintendo hasn’t officially announced any plans to bring the games to the Nintendo Switch.
However, both Ocarina of Time and Majora’s Mask could be released on the handheld hybrid as part of the series’ 35th-anniversary celebrations.
NateDrake made the claim during a recent podcast episode, where it was claimed that the classic N64 Zelda games might be coming to the eShop:
“We might see them go a little further with their 35th anniversary, and maybe we see Ocarina of Time and Majora’s Mask in some way. Whether it’s, y’know, HD N64 games on the eShop, similar to what we saw with Mario 64. I don’t know if you bring them in a retail pack, though.”
While NateDrake’s comments could be interpreted as mere speculation, it does sound like the insider knows something about a potential Zelda Switch collection. The insider has been a reliable source in the past, having previously leaked various Nintendo announcements ahead of schedule. NateDrake also believes that we’ll see a whole host of Nintendo titles released on the Switch by the end of the year.
Let’s be honest: the Switch leaves a lot to be desired when it comes to classic Zelda games. However, if NateDrake’s predictions are accurate, the Switch could be getting an inclusive package of Zelda titles before the year is up.
While the prospect of playing Majora’s mask on the go is exciting, it’s worth remembering that no official announcements have been made as of yet. Therefore, it’s probably wise to take these rumours with the usual grain of salt.
