8 Yakuza games are coming to PS Plus

Sony’s revitalised PlayStation Plus service is in full swing. Some great games old and new have been added to the Xbox Game Pass competitor – like hit cat game, Stray, with some even getting to play it without a paid subscription. Some other fantastic titles are being added to, including every one of the mainline Yakuza games with some coming to PS Plus as soon as August.

8 games from the hit Yakuza series, chronicling the fantastic Kazuma Kiryu saga, then Ichiban Kasuga in Like a Dragon, will be available for PlayStation Plus subscribers with the first titles appearing in August. Although, not all games from the fantastic mainline series will be appearing at the same time.

Yakuza: Like a Dragon will be added to PS Plus’ Essential monthly games line-up for August. Joining the PlayStation Plus and Extra Premium tiers of the service, will be Yakuza 0, Yakuza Kiwami, and Yakuza Kiwami 2. These three games are not only brilliant starts to Kiryu’s unforgettable journey through Kamurocho and Yakuza underworld – but also an introduction to the series’ iconic mix of hard-hitting combat, exploring bustling cities with zany side-quests, plethora of fun mini-games, and wild but emotional stories.

What about the other Yakuza games?

The rest of the series; Yakuza 3 Remastered, Yakuza 4 Remastered, Yakuza 5 Remastered, and Yakuza 6: The Song of Life; will be added to PlayStation Extra and Premium at an undisclosed date later this year.

Although it might be initially disappointing to not have access to all 8 of these Yakuza PS Plus games at once, the 3 Kazuma Kiryu saga games brought to the service at the start will be more than enough to keep new players going. After all, Yakuza 0, Yakuza Kiwami, and Yakuza Kiwami 2 are the first three games chronologically.

So, if you want to experience the Yakuza story in the right order and aren’t bothered by the slight differences between titles released at varied dates over the years, this is the way to go. What’s more, released in 2016, Yakuza 0 has more than enough first-rate content to keep you busy, arguably being one of the best games in the franchise overall.

Want to own any of the PS Plus Yakuza games physically instead? You can buy Yakuza Kiwami 2 for £15.95, Yakuza Remastered Collection for £15.95, Yakuza 6: The Song of Life for £15.95, and Yakuza: Like a Dragon from £19.95 – all ready to buy at the GameByte Shop.
