When it comes to nostalgia you’ll be hard-pressed to find a character who summons up your childhood years better than Earthworm Jim.
The beloved Earthworm Jim games have (sadly) been missing from the current-gen of consoles, but it looks like it’s not yet time to say goodbye to everyone’s favourite Earthworm.
The original developers of Earthworm Jim, have confirmed that a brand-spanking-new title is coming, and the world of gaming couldn’t be any more excited about the news.
The new game will be created by ten of the original programmers, along with the OG artists, audio team and level designers.
It’ll be created for the soon-to-be-released Intellivision Amico video game console, which is due to launch next year. Unfortunately, there’s no news of it coming to any other platform, so unless you fork out for this specific console, you’re unlikely to ever play it (legally, at least).
The Intellivision Amico website writes: “Amico comes with five premium, pre-loaded games, with additional games ranging from $2.99 – $9.99
“No bad language, graphic violence/blood or sexual content – every game on Amico is rated E for Everyone or E10+”
The system also promises an “extensive game library,” as well as “no ads, downloadable content, loot boxes, or in-game purchases.”
Earlier this year, Intellivision Entertainment CEO and the sound designer/composer for Earthworm Jim 1 and 2, Tommy Tallarico, said in a statement: “We have been talking about this moment for many years, it’s a dream come true to finally get the entire team back together,
“We’re looking forward to sharing a small part of our reunion and initial design meeting with fans from around the world.
“Intellivision Amico is designed to bring friends and families together and we are excited for fans and those just being introduced to the series to get a first look as we kick-off the design of the game.”
