Prepare yourself crewmates, because Among Us is heading to the immersive world of VR.
New Sonic game? Whatever. Alan Wake 2? Snore! Among Us VR… Why hello there. Since Among Us took off in 2020, we’ve seen numerous clones popping up everywhere. Some have been much more direct, like what you might find on the app store.
Others aren’t exact copies, but are just riding on the coattails of Among Us’ success. And of course a number of games decided to try their hand at the social deduction game in VR.
Except as revealed at The Game Awards last night, Among Us is getting an official VR release.
A very brief teaser trailer showed off the game in action, with a crewmate performing a task of putting some numbers in. They of course get killed by the imposter, but like a bad horror film it happened offscreen. No release date has been set. But we do know it will be coming to PlayStation VR, Meta Quest 2, and Steam. And you’ll only be able to play it with other Among Us VR players.
A blurb for the game reads: “This new 3D experience will place you and our suspicious spacebeans in the heart of the Skeld, with all of the core mechanics of teamwork and betrayal you know and love. The VR edition will continue to support the multiplayer experience too, of course!”
