Lovers of classic video games will want to check out the upcoming PS1-inspired adventure, Anodyne 2: Return to Dust, which finally comes to console next month!
Described as a “deeply personal” story from from developer Analgesic Productions and publisher Ratalaika Games, Anodyne 2 has been created by just two people: Melos Han-Tani and Marina Kittaka. Beloved by Steam gamers, the iconic 2019 title is finally coming to console!
The game perfectly captures the style of some of our favourite 90s classic games, and it’s sure to deliver a much-needed hit of nostalgia – even running on new-gen consoles!
Anodyne 2 will see players become a Nano Cleaner named Nova, who has to shrink down and enter the minds of citizens. Here the game represents even earlier retro games, with 2D dungeons inspired by the graphics of the Super Nintendo.
“Explore a dreamy world where nothing is quite as it seems and genres switch at the drop of a hat,” says the official game description.
“Solve puzzles, transform into a car, face manifestations of corruption, and donate Nano Dust to the Nano’s mysterious bosses to maintain a safe status quo. But what if the status quo was never actually safe to begin with?”
“Anodyne 2 drifts from whimsical to sometimes strange and scary places,” said Melos Han-Tani, co-founder of Analgesic Studios. “But ultimately it’s been known to inspire hope, and we welcome a new audience into our world with open arms.”
Already a hit on Steam, Anodyne 2: Return to Dust will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 on February 18.
