Earlier this week, Geoff Keighley revealed that an “announcement and world premiere new look” for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge would feature at Gamescom’s opening night. It turns out, that announcement meant a new playable character announcement, and it’s none other than everyone’s favourite journalist, April O’Neil.
If you’re a fan of the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoon, then you’ll no doubt remember April O’Neil. Essentially, April was to the Turtles what Peter Parker was to, well, himself, in that she made sure the sewer dwelling reptiles were portrayed as heroes. Now, the investigative journalist is set to join the Shredder’s Revenge fold, and she’s more badass than ever.
From camera equipment based attacks to being able to fly kick enemies, April’s prepared to shell out some serious moves. However, the latest trailer for Shredder’s Revenge doesn’t just give us a glimpse at O’Neil’s moves. In fact, the trailer also shows off some of the character’s team-based moves. Personally, I’m impressed by her ability to turn into a Sonic spinball when thrown.
Hopefully, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge features all the retro goodness we’d expect from Domemu. Originally, the game was scheduled to release in 2021. However, it looks like we’ll need to wait till next year for our turtles fix.
Also, while the game has been announced for Nintendo Switch and PC, there’s still no word of a PlayStation and Xbox release. Therefore, if you’re looking to get a shot of this nostalgia-fueled cartoon caper, you might have to venture outside your preferred platform. That’s unless Dotemu surprises us closer to release. Fingers crossed!
