Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed Valhalla has secured the number one spot at the top of the UK boxed sale charts for Christmas sales.
Other than the odd exceptions here and there, pretty much since 2006 in the UK the number one sport at Christmas has been claimed by the likes of FIFA and Call of Duty.
Before now the only two other games that have claimed the number one spot at Christmas were Bethesda’s The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim in 2011 and Rockstar Games’ Red Dead Redemption 2 in 2018.
So it’s fair to say that Assassin’s Creed Valhalla has now joined a very exclusive club indeed – and that’s without even taking Cyberpunk 2077 into account.
Last week the number one sport was claimed by CD Projekt Red’s Cyberpunk 2077 which has now fallen to third place.
Other than being a really good game, a big reason as to why Assassin’s Creed Valhalla has shot up in the charts is due to the Christmas price discount sales which resulted in a 66% sales increase for the Ubisoft title.
According to Gamesindustry.biz Cyberpunk 2077’s sales have fallen by 80% since last week which apparently isn’t uncommon for a game to fall by during its second week of sale.
Gamesindustry.biz points out that even the likes of The Last of Us Part 2 and Assassin’s Creed Valhalla had fallen by 80% and 70% respectively during their second week of sale.
Other titles performing well as we lead into Christmas is Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales jumping from eighth to sixth place and Ring Fit Adventure on the Nintendo Switch jumping from 16th to ninth place.
No doubt the increase in sales for Ring Fit Adventure is for those preparing to keep fit for their New Year’s Resolutions.
