The Assassin’s Creed franchise has changed a lot over the years, and one of the many changes we’ve seen is the removal of the Hidden Blade instant kills. If you’re new to the AC games, the Hidden Blade was the signature weapon of the Assassin Brotherhood, dealing insane damage and – as you probably guessed – instantly killing your foes.
For those AC gamers who’ve sorely missed the Hidden Blade there’s good news on the horizon, as it’s been confirmed to be making a comeback in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla.
The news comes from the game’s director, Ashraf Ismail, who confirmed in an interview with Kotaku that the legendary weapon will be returning to players once again.
According to Ismail, the game’s new hero (or heroine, that’s an option again!) Eivor will have access to the Hidden Blade pretty early into Valhalla.
“We continue with the idea that Eivor is not a trained assassin,” Ismail told the publication.
“Eivor is a Viking who receives this badass weapon and has to learn very quickly. Early in the experience, Eivor will learn a technique that, with the right timing … can one-shot-kill virtually anybody.”
Ismail also confirmed that social stealth will also be returning to the franchise in Valhalla, saying: “The idea that a Norse person or a Viking is in a place that they’re not wanted, for them to sort of go incognito and kind of hide in the crowd, if you will, made a lot of sense.”
It’s been confirmed that players can tackle the game as either a male or female hero, with in-depth customisation options including tattoos and facial hair.
The story appears to have a focus on King Alfred the Great, and will be set across four kingdoms.
Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is set to launch on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and PC, sometime during Holiday 2020.
