The highly-anticipated Baldur’s Gate 3 will be playable this year, according to new information from the powers-that-be at Hasbro. The Baldurs Gate games, which take place in the Forgotten Realms Dungeons & Dragons campaign setting, are cult classics that definitely deserve some more time in the spotlight.
The news on the third instalment in the beloved franchise comes from New York Toy Fair, where an investor meeting with Hasbro revealed the company’s plans for the remainder of 2020.

Hasbro, who is the parent company of Wizards of the Coast, revealed that Baldur’s Gate 3 will come to Steam Early Access later this year, which will mark the beginning of a very D&D-centric period for the company.
There are a total of seven D&D-based games in the works right now, including Baldur’s Gate 3 and Dark Alliance. Hasbro will be slowly releasing the games from this year until 2025.

If you’ve not played any of the Baldur’s Gate games then now’s a good time to give them a try, as Baldur’s Gate 2: Enhanced Edition is currently on sale on the Steam store.
The official description for BG2 reads as follows: “Kidnapped. Imprisoned. Tortured. The wizard Irenicus holds you captive in his stronghold, attempting to strip you of the powers that are your birthright. Can you resist the evil in your blood and forsake the dark destiny that awaits you? Or will you embrace your monstrous nature and ascend to godhood as the new Lord of Murder?

“Continue a journey started in Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition or create an entirely new character in this isometric Dungeons & Dragons roleplaying game. Running on an upgraded and improved version of the Infinity Engine, Baldur’s Gate II: Enhanced Edition includes the original Shadows of Amn adventure, the Throne of Bhaal expansion, and all-new content including four new party members.”
Sadly there’s no specific release date in place for Baldur’s Gate 3, but we’re happy to wait!
