Larian Studios has announced the release date for the upcoming Baldur’s Gate 3 and it seems like PC players will get it a lot sooner.
Yesterday saw Larian Studios’ product manager, Emily Gera post an update to PlayStation’s blog. This featured tons of new information about the upcoming RPG, including news that its PC version would be released four weeks early.
Baldur’s Gate 3 Release Date
In order to try and avoid the hectic Fall 2023 release schedule, Baldur’s Gate 3 will be arriving to PC on August 3. This is a few weeks earlier than the original August 31 release date.
However, for PS5 users, they will have to wait an extra week until September 6. Although this is still a week later than Windows PC, it is still one week earlier than originally planned.
At the time of writing this, there is still no news about an Xbox version.
“Reaching a technical bar that matches our design ambitions [on PS5] felt like the right move, while holding back the PC version when we knew we’d be ready felt like the wrong move in such a busy launch period,” says Michael Douse, the director of publishing for Larian.
The blog post also highlighted the Dungeons and Dragons inspired RPG’s extensive character customisation.
“Character creation is such a central part of D&D, and in Baldur’s Gate 3, we wanted players to experience the same kind of freedom when shaping their own identity,” says Gera. “Who you are, what you look like, and how you want to play is up to you. Define your body type, your age, and looks – right down to the highlights in your hair.”
As a result, you will be able to choose and customise your character in a selection of 12 classes and a whopping 46 subclasses.
So whether you choose between Human, Dwarf, Githyanki, Elf, Drow, Tiefling, Halfling, Half-Elf, Gnome, Half-Orc, or Dragonborn, the customisation options are endless.
The PlayStation blog post also details some more things you can look forward to with the release of Baldur’s Gate 3.
With the release date just months away, we can look forward to another epic adventure with the latest instalment in the Baldur’s Gate franchise.
