Gotta go fast though!

Borderlands 3 Story Is Half The Length Of Red Dead Redemption 2’s If You ‘Beeline It’

Borderlands 3 is the game everyone’s talking about right now, and Gearbox has just announced a whole slew of brand-new information on its highly-anticipated upcoming title.

Showcasing the first look at gameplay for the new Borderlands game over in Los Angeles, Gearbox took the opportunity to share a tonne of interesting things – including the length of the game’s storyline.

Speaking to PC Gamer, Borderlands 3‘s creative director Paul Sage went into some detail about the length of the game, and it lines up with the previous instalments in the series.

“If you beeline it through, and I mean beelining it through, it might take you 30 hours to complete the main story,” Sage said.

Of course, that’s if you ignore all the side quests and optional missions, of which there’s apparently quite a lot.

So how does 30 hours compare to previous Gearbox’s titles?

Well, it’s about the length of Borderlands 2, with gaming website How Long to Beat, showing BL2 sitting at an average of 30.5 hours to complete.

That extends to a whopping average of 115 hours for those completionists out there.

Hopefully there’ll be even more for players to tackle in Borderlands 3.

In terms of game length though, Borderlands 3 looks like it’s set to take half as long to complete as a game like Red Dead Redemption 2.

Red Dead 2 set something of a new standard for the length of a game, but Borderlands 3 looks like it’s set to be much less heavy on narrative, and much more focused on gameplay.

With more of a focus on battling and looting, it’s likely to have a lot more replayability than a narrative-driven game.

In the showcase event over in Los Angeles – which had everything from masked fans to decorated urinals – GameByte’s very own Brett Claxton got the opportunity to get hands-on with the game.
