Borderlands 3 Will Use Beloved Apex Legends Mechanic

Gearbox finally showed off some gameplay from its upcoming new addition to its infamous Borderlands series, Borderlands 3.

Along with giving the whole world a good look at some bosses and some story elements, we were also given a pretty good look at some of the game’s play mechanics, and one in particular looks VERY familiar.

In the video below, you can see the wonderful and very fun sliding mechanic that you’ve probably grown to love in none other than Respawn Entertainment’s free-to-play battle royale, Apex Legends.

As you can see in the video, the sliding is definitely going to amp up the game, and it looks like it’s going to be fun AF if you’re into your action shooters.

Borderlands 3 has definitely evolved from its predecessor, and from what we’ve seen so far, it’s shaping up to be the FPS we’ve always wanted, offering up more loot, more guns, and more off-the-wall action than any of the previous BL games.

Over on Twitter, Gearbox’s very own Randy Pitchford celebrated the gameplay reveal event, saying he was “humbled” by its success.

“I’ve just been informed that in just the short time that streaming partners have had with the game today at our event that over one million viewer hours have been generated for Borderlands 3,” said Pitchford on Twitter. “That’s astonishing and incredible and impossible. I am humbled.”

In the showcase event over in Los Angeles – which had everything from masked fans to decorated urinals – GameByte’s very own Brett Claxton got the opportunity to get hands-on with the game.
