Budget UK Supermarket Is Now Selling Pretty Good Gaming PCs

Aldi is one of those shops where you can pop in for bread and come out with an inflatable flamingo, a set of dog toys and a new lawnmower, but a gaming PC? Yeah, even I didn’t see that coming.

The budget supermarket has shocked the world by unveiling what’s actually a pretty sweet gaming PC, and it’ll set you back just a fraction of what a similar one would cost you.

Yup, Aldi is now selling a Medion desktop gaming computer for £949.99 [spotted by GamesRadar], and it’s actually a really amazing deal.

The specs – which include the Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060 graphics card – are as follows:

  • Intel® Core™ i5-9400 Processor
  • 2.9 GHz, up to 4.1 GHz with Intel Turbo Boost Technology 2.0
  • 6 Cores and 9 MB Intel® Smart Cache
  • NVIDIA® GeForce® RTX 2060 Graphics
  • With 6,144 MB GDDR6 VRAM
  • 1,024 GB PCIe SSD
  • 16 GB DDR4-2666 RAM
  • Multi-Standard-DVD-/CD-ReWriter
  • Hot-Swap HDD Frame1
  • Fast Wireless LAN IEEE 802.11 ac-Standard-Technology with up to 1,73 Gbps (2×2)
  • Bluetooth 5.0
  • Network Controller Gigabit LAN (10/100/1000 Mbit/s)
  • Windows 10

Admittedly, the processor is on the lower-end of the spectrum, but the Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060 more than makes up for it, as it opens up the doors for ray-tracing, and should be able to support most modern games that are hitting the market right now.

At under £1000, this is a steal for anyone who wants an entry-level gaming PC, though if you’ve got the time and inclination you probably could build a slightly improved version for less money.
