Call Of Duty 2021 Is A ‘Disaster In The Making,’ Claims Insider

Activision’s 2021 Call of Duty instalment is a “disaster in the making”, according to insider Tom Henderson.

According to Henderson, the next Call of Duty game has been in development since 2019. Developed by Sledgehammer Games, the project has apparently been weighed down by the ongoing pandemic and complications caused by working from home [via Comicbook]. However, CoD 2021’s issues aren’t all COVID-related, as the issues apparently also involve Call of Duty: Warzone.

Henderson has stated that players won’t be receiving a WW2-themed map for Warzone and that the content would be delayed until April 2022. Similar issues emerged upon Black Ops Cold War’s release, which was supposed to launch with a 1980s-themed Warzone map. To add salt to the wound, the insider has also revealed that the new map will be similar to the likes of Rebirth Island, rather than a proper new map. Allegedly.

Tom Henderson’s full report is in the form of a newsletter, entitled “A DISASTER IN THE MAKING,” which provides various insider details about the next game and its integration with Warzone. The report claims that Activision already isn’t expected CoD 2021 to sell as well as Black Ops Cold War.

Rounding off the report, Henderson provides some damning insight into the future of Call of Duty and the troubles that lie ahead of it:

“Although Call of Duty continues to dominate the shooter space, in my opinion, I think that Call of Duty is going to face a rough year and I’m finding it hard to see how a standard WW2 shooter can do well against years fierce competition.”

Henderson has been a reliable source in the past, which has got the insider suspended from the likes of Twitter. After disclosing various Battlefield 6 details, Henderson found himself removed from social media platform, likely due to complaints from EA. The leaker also voluntarily removed their YouTube channel out of fears that EA would take legal action.

While Henderson is a reliable source, it’s best to take the insider’s report with a grain of salt, as nothing has been officially confirmed just yet.

Are you hopeful for Call of Duty 2021, or do you think Henderson might be onto something?
