According to rumours, details concerning the 2022 release of Call of Duty have leaked. It is believed that an announcement is set for May.
The rumours are courtesy of industry leaker RalphsValve. In a tweet, an image was shared of the countdown that would conclude on April 30th. However, RalphsValve then followed up with another tweet saying: “Let me preface this by saying, the Reveal is still set for May.”
Naturally, the two tweets are a little conflicting. After all, the first points at an April 30th reveal, then the second tweet states that a reveal will take place in May. If I was to make an assumption, if these rumours are true, it could be Activision making an announcement for an upcoming announcement.
Recently there have been rumours that Call of Duty will skip its release in 2023. If this happens, it will be the first time the series has skipped a year since 2004. This would have been in-between the release of the original Call of Duty (2003) and Call of Duty 2 (2005).
Will we see another Modern Warfare reboot?
However, because Activision likes to start development for the Call of Duty series quite early, it still means that we should get a release this year. While we don’t know for sure what that release will be, it’s believed to be Modern Warfare 2, a follow up to the 2019 reboot.
Obviously, at this time, these are mere rumours and speculation. So, until proven otherwise, we must take them with a pinch of salt. That being said, would you like to see a reboot of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2? Let us know on Twitter.
