The Call Of Duty community has officially raised over $1.6 million USD for Australian Bushfire Relief, Activision has confirmed. The money was raised thanks to the game’s Outback Relief Pack, which featured some cosmetic add-ons. These included a new operator skin, a blueprint for a legendary sniper rifle, a charm shaped like a Koala bear, and a unique finishing move, plus some other goodies.
Over on the official Activision blog, the company thanked those who picked up the Relief Pack, revealing the whopping amount that has been raised for charity so far.

“Activision is working with Direct Relief, a humanitarian aid organization active in all 50 U.S. states and more than 80 countries worldwide, who is administering 100% of the funding directly in Australia to provide relief,” explains the blog.
“With this donation, Direct Relief has already started to provide much needed emergency and health supplies in coordination with local aid groups across the country as they respond to the pressing needs of millions of Australians affected by these tragic conditions.”

“Call of Duty players around the world came together in support of this terrible tragedy. We’re honored to help in this effort with the funds from the Outback Relief pack. We thank everyone for their generosity, and we look forward to putting this donation into action,” said Byron Beede, general manager and executive vice president of Call of Duty at Activision.
“Thank you to fans and our community. Your inspiration drove the Outback Relief Pack. On behalf of everyone here at the studio, we thank you for your support,” said Patrick Kelly, co-studio head and creative director of Infinity Ward.

The bushfires in Australia have been raging for a few months now, and the true extent of the damage is still unknown. Lives have been lost, homes have been destroyed, and Australian wildlife have suffered seemingly irreparably. For more information on the disasters, check out the BBC here.
