Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Beta Glitch Hints At Microtransactions

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is looking like the CoD we’ve all been hoping for, and with the beta kicking off in style everyone’s gearing up to get a taste of the experience.

Unfortunately, it seems that the experience in question might leave a bitter taste in some people’s mouths, as it looks like microtransactions will be heading to the game.

As spotted by YouTube content creator NerosCinema [via Dexerto], a glitch has unveiled what’s called the “Loot Box: Common Supply Drop” unlock. *Sigh*

The spot seemingly confirms that microtransactions and loot boxes will be making their way into Modern Warfare, and it’s left people seriously unimpressed.

“Typical Pathetic Activision,” sniped one user, who suggested that the feature might be unveiled after the game’s release so as to avoid any negativity.

Another gamer expressed just how the loot box discovery is going to affect their plans for purchase, tweeting: “I was pretty much going to buy Modern Warfare on day one, but after seeing the new loot box thing, it’s reminded me to maybe actually wait a month or two before diving in.”

Just last month, Infinity Ward developer Joe Cecot responded to a question about microtransactions in the game, vaguely stating: “We can’t really comment on MTX or our systems for that right now (…) All I can say is that we’re pushing really hard to create a player-first or player-forward system.”

Activision and Infinity Ward have yet to comment on the glitch that’s seemingly revealed loot boxes in the game.

Will the addition of microtransactions affect your decision to buy this CoD, or are you still as eager as ever to jump right in to the new title?

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will be launching for PS4, Xbox One and PC on October 25, 2019.
