Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is a wonderful entry in the Call of Duty franchise. Its inclusion of Warzone breathed new life into the Battle Royale genre when it released earlier this year. Needless to say when it comes to the most memorable entries of the FPS franchise, Modern Warfare may be one that sticks around in conversations for a while.
It may also stick around in conversations for another reason. How bloomin’ big it is! When the franchise first appeared, back in 2003, it took up a respectable amount of space of about1.3GB. That left you enough space on a DVD back then to store the latest Evanescence album and still have space to spare!

BIG BOI AND ANDRE 250GB
At launch Modern Warfare was about 175 gigabytes but it has kept growing thanks to updates and new modes. Much like Audrey II from Little Shop of Horrors it has grown too big and it must consume all you storage.
If you only have 250GB of storage on your hard drive then you better get used to doing nothing with it. As you can see in the Tweet from BattleNonSense below, it just doesn’t fit.
In the past you used to be able to delete certain sections of the game from your hard drive to keep space. On console you can do this too. Since moving it to battle.net though it seems to be something that can no longer be done. As follow up tweets from BattleNonSense pointed out.
Due to the game not being updatable it means that you’ll be unable to play certain modes too. Less from ideal for sure and surely something Activision will look to address. What’s the solution for Call of Duty taking up all your storage? For now unfortunately it seems a full uninstall is the only option. You can then look to reinstall it to another drive if you have one.

What could i have on my hard drive instead of call of duty: modern warfare?
If you wanted to you could have every Call of Duty game available on PC up until Ghosts. THAT’S NINE GAMES! You could also look to get a nice big RPG on there. Final Fantasy XV clocks in at 148GB, which gives you plenty of room for some smaller titles.
Even Red Dead Redemption 2, the huge open world Western game by Rockstar, clocks in at 150GB, leaving plenty of room for pictures of cowboy hats. You could even head over to itch.io, where you can find a plethora of indie games, and download an abundance of games which will keep you entertained for hours.
Will Call of Duty: Modern Warfare find a way to reduce its file size? We hope it does soon. At the very least we hope to see it find a way to delete sections of the game players don’t use. Until then though those with 250GB storage will have to find other means to play CoD.
