Unless we’ve all been hoodwinked, it’s a pretty safe bet to say that the unannounced Call of Duty game for 2020 will be a Black Ops title. Rumours of such have been floating around for a while now, suggesting we’ll be seeing a new spin on the Black Ops series, with a focus on the Cold War.
Eagle-eyed gamers have already spotted potential Black Ops references within the free-to-play Battle Royale game, Warzone, and it appears there might be more to discover.
Earlier this month, the Warzone locked bunkers suddenly opened (with the help of a keycard). Within the bunkers, players discovered a number of Black Ops Easter eggs, including a super-secret 11th bunker which concealed a war room complete with a countdown and a nuclear warhead. Though these things didn’t directly announce a Black Ops tie-in, they’re all thematically linked to the BO series, further fuelling the fires of speculation.
Now players have discovered yet another BO tease in Warzone: a prototype RC car. The RC is found on a table in one of Warzone’s buildings, and is thought to be a direct nod to the RC car Killsteak seen in the Black Ops series.

According to Eurogamer, the next Call of Duty will be called “Call Of Duty: Black Ops Cold War,” although the news has yet to be formally announced by Activision.
With the next generation of consoles looming, it’s believed the next CoD will be cross-platform, launching on Xbox One, PS4, PC and the upcoming PS5 and Xbox Series X.
From the looks of things, we can probably expect the game’s reveal to tie-in with a big Warzone and Modern Warfare event, so colour me excited!
The ball’s in your court, Activision. We’re waiting!
