CD Projekt Red Could Face Class Action Lawsuit Over Cyberpunk 2077

According to a report from the New York Times the developers at CD Projekt Red could now be facing a class action lawsuit over the disastrous launch of Cyberpunk 2077.

The publication summarises Cyberpunk 2077 as being “rife with errors, populated by characters running on barely functional artificial intelligence, and largely incompatible with the older gaming consoles meant to support it” – something which was very much echoed by lots of Cyberpunk players during launch.

The New York Times article goes on to note that a legal battle could be on the cards for the developer though, writing: “Lawyers and investors in Warsaw are circling the situation, contemplating a class-action lawsuit against the company [CDPR].

The quote refers to a claim made by a Mikołaj Orzechowski who is a lawyer at a Polish law firm and also apparently an investor in CD Projekt Red.

Translated roughly by Google Translate, Orzechowski claims that: “we are currently analyzing, together with the law firm’s team, the grounds for bringing a class action together with the notification of the possibility of committing crime under Act. 286 of the Penal Code – misrepresentation in order to obtain financial benefits.

In layman’s terms, if the words of Orzechowski are true, it seems that some of those that have invested in CDPR and the developmental investment of Cyberpunk 2077 feel that they have been lied to over the quality of the game.

However that is not all because also according to an article from Finance Yahoo, New York law firm Haldenstein Alder Freeman & Herz LPP is also looking to present CDPR with a class action lawsuit “investigating a potential securities class action lawsuit against CDPR” on the basis of incurred financial losses.

This story is again just another extension of the insane amount of troubles that has plagued Cyberpunk 2077 since its December 10th launch.
