Chocobo GP Producer Addresses Backlash In A New Statement

Square Enix has apologised after receiving backlash to the poor launch state of Chocobo GP.

The newest Mario Kart-like racing game from Square Enix is off to a bit of a rough start. Despite being a fully-priced game, Chocobo GP is filled with in-game currencies and microtransactions. Something fans are vocally unhappy about.

On top of this, a series of bugs have been affecting competitive modes of the game. Now, producer of the game Hironori Okayama has released a statement addressing the issues raised.

I am very sorry that bugs in the competitive modes of the game, and our lack of advance communication, have caused inconvenience to players,” wrote Okayama. “The development team has come together and been working to fix all the bugs as soon as possible.

“We have also heard many opinions about how additional DLC is implemented. We are considering this feedback seriously and putting all our efforts into making sure that we provide future updates that satisfy all fans who have purchased the game.

Okayama then goes on to explain what changes are planned for Chocobo GP. Firstly, the team has changed the Prize Level system for Chocobo GP mode, making it easier to increase your level. And overall requirements for reaching level 100 in particular have been made easier.

A new design policy has also been set to “readjust the metagame, so that it is easier for players to earn new characters once they have purchased the retail version of the game.” And Okayama also notes that the team is open to implementing more changes. As well as saying they will continue to take all feedback into account.
