If you’ve been gorging yourself silly on the free-to-play Battle Royale Call of Duty: Warzone and need a bit of a change then Activision has got your back. The company has announced that Modern Warfare’s multiplayer mode will be free to play this weekend, offering you the chance to sample what the 2019 title has to offer.
Announcing the news on Twitter, Activision said: “Prep the squad. #ModernWarfare Multiplayer Free Access Weekend is coming to #Warzone.”
To access the free weekend you’ll need to already have Warzone installed, so best hop to it if you haven’t got that already. Once the free weekend goes live, five maps from Modern Warfare will be available for you to try out through the Warzone lobby.
6v6 and 10v10 matches will be available across Hovec Sawmill, Talsik Backlot, Aniyah Incursion, Hideout and Shoot House.
“Now’s your chance to get to know Modern Warfare Multiplayer combat in two concentrated, visually stunning settings,” said Activision.
“You’ll be able to experience 6v6 and 10v10 gameplay with Modern Warfare and free-to-play Warzone players alike. And, you’ll get a deeper knowledge of the weapons and equipment you’ve encountered in Warzone.”
It’s a fantastic way to sample Modern Warfare, though if you like what you see and decide to purchase the full game, don’t ignore the game’s main campaign!
Back in November of last year, it was revealed that only one third of PlayStation gamers had taken the time to complete MW’s campaign, and really, they’re missing out.
At the time, PlayStation trophy data for Modern Warfare [via TheSixthAxis] showed just 33.1% of player have earned the “Tea Time” trophy – the award given to those who’ve completed the campaign. The stats also revealed that just 2.4% of players have earned the “Out of the Fire” trophy, which is awarded to those who beat the game on either Veteran difficulty or Realism difficulty.
Now that Modern Warfare has been out for much longer, hopefully more people have sunk their teeth into its dark and gritty story!
