Remedy Entertainment has revealed that a new Control multiplayer spin-off is in the works. The studio also suggested that a sequel to the 2019 adventure is part of the studio’s future plans.
Revealed last night via Twitter, the new Control spin-off will be co-published by 505 Games, the Publisher behind the first game. According to the announcement post on Remedy’s website, Condor is a brand new 4-player cooperative PvE game that takes place in the Control universe:
“Remedy Entertainment, developer of the award-winning game Control, has signed an agreement with 505 Games under which Remedy and 505 Games, an international video game publisher and a subsidiary of Digital Bros Group, will co-publish and develop a new 4-player cooperative PvE (player vs. environment) game, codenamed Condor.“

The statement also reveals that Condor “has the potential to engage the gaming community in the long run”, which suggests the game could have competitive multiplayer elements. While the post doesn’t give too much away, it sounds like Condor could be a game that exists alongside future Control related sequels and releases.
Is Control getting a sequel?
In addition to Condor’s unveiling, Remedy also revealed that it plans to expand the Control franchise. According to the game’s director, Mikael Kasurinen, a “bigger-budget Control-game” is also in the pipeline:
“But as said, Control is more than one location, character, or story. We have more. Something ambitious. As today’s announcement stated, “have outlined high-level collaboration terms to further expand the Control franchise with a bigger-budget Control-game”. I, unfortunately, cannot go into more detail than that, but suffice to say, I’m extremely excited for the future of the Control franchise.“

Before you get too excited, the statement also stipulates that “building games takes years”. Therefore, it could be a while before we see a continuation of Control. Nevertheless, it’s an exciting time to be a fan of Remedy’s work.
