Crystal Dynamics has heard the overwhelming response following the recent questionnaire related to the Legacy of Kain series.
In October 2022, Crystal Dynamics published a questionnaire asking fans about the Legacy of Kain series. However, it seems that the questionnaire proved to be very popular indeed.
Legacy of Kain fans are being heard
Furthermore, the questionnaire asked fans whether they’d like to see the series return and if so, in what form.
What’s more, the questionnaire gathered a lot of traction and fans let their feelings known in the hope of a revival.
As reported by VGC, during a recent earnings call by Crystal Dynamics’ parent company, Embracer Group, it’s claimed the questionnaire generated over 100,000 responses. Which is quite impressive, to say the least.
“We wanted to gain a community perspective on what players are looking for should we revisit the land of Nosgoth and our iconic IP, Legacy of Kain,” said Crystal Dynamics and Eidos CEO Phil Rogers.
“In the past, we’ve found that surveys typically get between 1,000 and 3,000 responses, but when we asked folk about Legacy of Kain, we received over 100,000 responses.”
The questionnaire proved to be very popular
Rogers continued: “73,000 gamers completed it entirely, and if you are one of them, we thank you very much, and we appreciate it was quite an effort given the survey was pretty extensive.
“We saw the news of our survey shared across social and press platforms and we really felt this was a great way to reignite this passionate fan community with this legendary PC and console game series.
“Rest assured, we hear you loudly and clearly, and we will continue to update you on the what-if possibilities ahead for Legacy of Kain in the future.”
The original game in the series, Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain was developed by Silicon Knights and published by Crystal Dynamics in 1996. However, the series arguably hit its heights in 1999 with the release of Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver.
Furthermore, the follow-up was directed by Amy Hennig, the former writer and director at Naughty Dog.
Sadly since 1999, despite releasing several games for new generations, the love and ultimately the quality of the series dwindled.
Finally, the conclusive entry in the series would be Legacy of Kain: Defiance in 2003. There were attempts to revive the franchise with a multiplayer game called “Nosgoth”. However, that project was cancelled in 2015.
Will Crystal Dynamics bring back Legacy of Kain?
