Cyberpunk 2077 Dev Tells Players To Check Cooling Systems Before Phantom Liberty Arrives

With Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty arriving on September 26, one developer has warned players to check their cooling systems in advance.

The highly-anticipated Phantom Liberty expansion for Cyberpunk 2077 arrives this month alongside a massive Version 2.0 update. The free update promises to overhaul the way the base game is experienced whilst Phantom Liberty introduces a brand-new additional story.

However, PC players will have to test their cooling systems beforehand as the game is set to get your CPUs working overtime.

Cyberpunk 2077 PC Players Should Test Cooling Systems

This warning comes from CD Projekt Red lead scene programmer Filip Pierściński who took to Twitter with the news.

“Before [we] release Cyberpunk 2077 2.0 and Phantom Liberty please check conditions of your cooling systems in PC,” he said.

“We all use what you have, so workload on CPU 90% on 8 core is expected. To save your time please run Cinebench or similar and check stability of your systems.”

His recommendation of Cinebench is a free programme that evaluates your PC’s hardware capabilities. In short, it will be able to tell you if your setup is capable of running Version 2.0 when it releases.

What To Expect With 2.0

As mentioned, Version 2.0 is set to completely overhaul the base game. It will arrive sometime before the release of Phantom Liberty and will be free to all players.

As well as featuring an overhaul of the skill system, a new weapon and loot system and more open world activities, it will also introduce cyberpsychosis. This will occur when your character has had too much cyberware implanted.

On top of that you can expect vehicle-to-vehicle combat, a new and updated combat system, a new skill tree and new radio stations to accompany you on your drives through Night City.
