Cyberpunk 2077 Shows Off Insane ‘Demon Software’ Ability

CD Projekt Red’s Cyberpunk 2077 is getting closer and closer with every passing day, and the team responsible for the likes of The Witcher 3 has been busy showing off gameplay, albeit behind closed doors.

Over at PAX Australia some brand-new footage was shown off to the eager audience, and we got our first look at Cyberpunk 2077’s ‘Demon Software.’

The Demon Software is an ability that the playable character, V, can use to make an enemy turn on itself. The add-on character augmentation was shown off in the demo, where V used the ability aimed at the enemy’s arm.

The arm then attacked the rest of the enemy’s body, essentially possessing the bad guy…almost like a demon (geddit?)

Another new ability shown during PAX Australia was the Nano Wire. The Nano Wire can be used as a hacking tool or it can be used to connect with other characters in the game. It also serves as a weapon, which is pretty cool.

More about the game’s expansion world was revealed earlier this year when the game’s quest design coordinator Phillip Weber took to the CD Projekt Red forums to talk all things Cyberpunk.

“Every quest in the game is handcrafted,” Weber wrote. “For us, quality is always more important than quantity, and we just couldn’t deliver this quality with modules we assemble in different ways to create these random quests. We don’t just want to keep people busy, but actually give them something to do that’s worth their while.”

He added that we can still expect a huge world though, saying: “We’re making a big Open World RPG of course, so that also means that despite our quests being handcrafted, we tried to make a whole lot of them, so players can have fun in the game for many hours.”

Earlier this year, GameByte got to preview the behind-closed-doors press screening of Cyberpunk 2077 gameplay. The game showed off a wealth of not-publicly-seen environments, the unveiling of an in-game mission, plus some killer tunes.

Hopefully the gameplay will be available for everyone to see sooner rather than later, but for now you can check out our discussion of what we saw in the video below!
