The Senior Level Designer at CD Projekt Red has revealed that you won’t be stealing cars like you’re playing a game of Grand Theft Auto in Cyberpunk 2077.

In the GTA series pretty much from the get-go you can steal cars from just about anyone. It’s just a simple case of approaching a car whether it’s occupied or not and away you go.
As we know the GTA series is an open-world sandbox which invites you to play the game whichever way you want. The open-world nature of the Grand Theft Auto games have drawn natural comparisons to that of Cyberpunk 2077.

However in the latest episode of Night City Wire, Miles Tost revealed that you won’t be able to just walk up to a car and steal it. The reason makes total sense as you will have to first acquire the requited RPG skill-set to be a budding car thief. Meanwhile, it sounds like stealing parked cars and throwing people from their cars will have their own specific stat requirements.
With specific stats needed to steal vehicles, you’ll definitely have a lot less freedom when it comes to Cyberpunk 2077 in comparison to GTA.
You also won’t be able to keep the cars you steal, though we do know you can summon your own car similar to how Geralt summons his horse Roach in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.
Recently Cyberpunk 2077 suffered yet another delay despite the game going “Gold” and much of the anger from fans resulted in the developers receiving death threats as reported here.
The reasons for the delay were due to concerns over the PS4 and Xbox One versions.
Assuming that the game suffers no further delays, Cyberpunk 2077 will now release on December 10th for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and Google Stadia. (Though I wouldn’t be surprised if Cyberpunk 2077 still gets pushed back to early 2021).
