You may already be aware of a little upcoming game by CD Projekt Red entitled Cyberpunk 2077, and if so, you’re probably already as hyped for the release as I am.
The next huge, sprawling and densely-packed world from the masters behind the likes of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is still a ways away from release, but that doesn’t mean we can’t dream about it.
One developer has gone a step further than just dreaming of the game’s Night City, and instead has been hard at work recreating the whole of Cyberpunk 2077 – as if it were a PlayStation One game.
Over on YouTube, Bearly Regal has shared an infinitely cool clip of a “demake” build of what the game could look like if it was birthed in the 1990s, and it’s seriously impressive stuff.
Check out the video in full below!
In the video description, Bearly Regal writes: “Take a mini tour of Night City from Cyberpunk 2077 re-imagined as a PS1 game. The project is far from finished but I wanted to share a small update that teases some of the tech I’ve developed for the demo.”
If Bearly Regal’s name is sounding familiar, it’s probably thanks to a previous project: the recent Death Stranding “demake” that absolutely blew up online.
Similar to the Cyberpunk PS1 video, Bearly’s Death Stranding PS 1 demake features the typical blocky, low-poly character builds we’re used to seeing from our childhoods.
Ahh, sweet nostalgia.
In case you missed it, check it out right here.
Hopefully we’ll at least be able to play the PS1-style Cyberpunk 2077 soon, because I don’t know if I can last until the release of the real thing next year.
CD Projekt Red’s Cyberpunk 2077 is due to release on PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4, April 16, 2020.
