The 1.2 update patch is part of CD Projekt Red’s plans to overhaul the game, improving the experience across all platforms.

However, it seems like the update has disrupted things on PC, especially for those using Nvidia RTX 3080 graphics cards. The issues were spotted by The Washington Post’s Gene Park, who shared the Reddit thread on Twitter.

While the patch has improved performance on the PS5, players using RTX 3080 graphics cards are reporting massive performance dips.

It seems like the update has mostly affected the game’s framerate, which now frequently drops below 40 FPS.

While multiple users reported the same issues, others seem to be unaffected by the update. One user suggested that the errors could be related to available SSD space, while another stated that they’re able to run the game at 1440p while achieving almost 60 frames per second.

On console, the update has enhanced the game dramatically. Xbox and PS5 users are now reporting that the game benefits from an increased frame rate and sharper graphics.

However, some PS5 users are saying that the game’s visuals are noticeably worse. Reddit’s response suggests that the update could be running on reduced settings to achieve a higher frame rate.

Cyberpunk’s recent update seems to be a mixed bag when it comes to performance and fidelity. Overall, the update seems to have caused inconsistent results. Hopefully, future patches and updates will strike a balance between the two, bringing the game ever closer to the experience it should have been.

Cyberpunk 2077 is available on PS4, Xbox One and PC. It’s backwards compatible on new-gen consoles. You can also grab a copy of the game at the GameByte Shop!
