Days Gone Sequel Is Not Happening, Says New Report

A new report from Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier has claimed that a Days Gone sequel won’t be happening, despite rumours circulating for over a year now.

In a new article, Schreier explores the future of Sony studios, noting that Naughty Dog is working on both a new Uncharted and a PS5 remake of The Last of Us.

Sadly, it’s not all good news, as Day Gone likely won’t be getting its highly-anticipated sequel.

Although the first game had been profitable, its development had been lengthy and critical reception was mixed, so a Days Gone 2 wasn’t seen as a viable option,” writes Schreier.

Instead of a Days Gone sequel, Schreier claims that some of the staff at Bend Studio were sent to Naughty Dog to work on a new Uncharted game.

According to the report, the team at Bend asked to be taken off the project, and began work on a new game.

The journalist then took to Twitter to clarify the news, telling games leaker Nibel that he “[doesn’t] know if that [new Bend] game is still in development. It was all on paper at Bend.”

While the report is unconfirmed by Sony, it’s important to note that Schreier is rarely wrong when it comes to the video game industry. The journalist leaked the huge purchase of ZeniMax by Microsoft, just moments before the story was confirmed. However, without official confirmation, it’s best to take all of this news with a pinch of salt.
