Dead Space Writer Teases Big Game Reveal For PS5 Event

The Dead Space franchise is a classic, but could another game be on the cards? Rumour says yes, as Dead Space series writer, Anthony Johnston, has teased a “big” game reveal, coming later today (June 11).

Johnston, one of the co-writers of 2008’s Dead Space (as well as Dead Space 3 and multiple spin-offs), took to Twitter to tease us all with an upcoming reveal. Interestingly, the tweet has now been deleted.

The writer said: “As some of you know, I’ve been working on a big videogame for almost 2 years now. In totally unrelated news, you should all watch the PS5 launch event on Thursday.”

This was soon followed up with a little bit more info: “Hint: you play a character having a really bad time.”

Again, this second tweet has now been deleted, but you can check it out via BloodyDisgusting.

The tweets don’t exactly give us a lot to go off, but hey, something’s clearly happening – could it really be a new Dead Space?! Thankfully we don’t have too long to wait to find out what, as the PlayStation 5 event kicks off tonight, June 11, at 9pm BST.

We’ve been promised a first look at some of the games for the PS5, with fans tentatively hoping for the likes of Horizon Zero Dawn 2, God of War Part (or…5, I guess?), Marvel’s Spider-Man too and even a reboot of the Silent Hill series. These are all just rumours for now, but considering we haven’t actually even seen the PS5 itself yet, we’re expecting big things from the upcoming event!

Sony has said on the reveals: “This digital showcase will run for a bit more than an hour and, for the first time, we will all be together virtually experiencing the excitement together. A lack of physical events has given us an amazing opportunity to think differently and bring you on this journey with us, and hopefully, closer than ever before. This is part of our series of PS5 updates and, rest assured, after next week’s showcase, we will still have much to share with you.”
