Naughty Dog vice president and director of The Last of Us Part 2 has teased the future of the studio – and the potential for a third game in the series. In a new interview with British GQ, Druckmann spoke about the final stretch on the road to Part 2’s launch, admitting he’s already thinking about where the ND team will head to next.

He told the publication: “As you start wrapping things up, creatively there are fewer and fewer responsibilities and my mind can’t help but think about the next thing,
“So, yeah, the next thing could be a Part III, the next thing could be some new IP.”

As much as I’d love to see The Last of Us Part 3, I’m thinking that a new IP might be the best decision for Naughty Dog. The upcoming new adventure of Ellie and Joel has been years in the making, and it’d be great to see something new from the Sony studio.
It’s been a long and hard slog to the launch of Part 2, which was completed during a global pandemic, saw two delays, and was also hit by some pretty severe leaks which gave away almost the entire plot of the game.

Despite the rocky road, fans are eagerly awaiting the launch of the game, which is heavily expected to be one of the biggest releases of 2020. Pre-order sales are already smashing expectations, proving that nothing can stop the Dog when it comes to a new game launch.
Speaking of The Last of Us Part 2, we’re now just a week away from launch, and reviews for the game (including our own), will be out from June 12. Keep your eyes peeled to find out our impressions of the next big game from Naughty Dog!
