It’s believed that a new Transformers online game might be on the way – and it will apparently be inspired by the likes of Destiny and Warframe.
Reports first surfaced of the supposed Transformers game back in 2017, which claimed the name of the game would be Transformers: Impact.

The story of Transformers: Impact allegedly once again followers the tale of the Autobots and Decepticons battling it out in an ancient war.
However when a powerful alien weapon drifts into their solar system, the robots-in-disguise turn their attention to this super-weapon in the hopes that it will change the tide of the battle.
Unfortunately for both the Autobots and Decepticons, a severe explosion destroys the weapon which shattered Aegis (I assume the Dark Priest Aegis) into shards across Earth corrupting the lands in which they fall.
Now both the Autobots and Decepticons must unite and work together to stop the spread of the darkness consuming all beings.
Interestingly as the Autobots and Decepticons will be working together, players reportedly can choose either faction and remain on the same side.

However documents that were made to be public (which have now been removed) have revealed further details on Transformers: Impact. Though it is worth keeping in mind that these documents are three years old, so a lot can change in that time.
According to Wccftech it was revealed that Transformers: Impact will be inspired by video games such as Destiny and Warframe and will feature PvE co-op gameplay in a shared world.
In the now-removed documents it was also alleged that Transformers: Impact will be a free-to-play title with built-in microtransactions in a “freemium” formula.
Transformers: Impact will also reportedly feature character creation in a number of classes and factions. It will seemingly include a social hub area where players can gather.

The documents also state that players will be able to customise their Transformer with loot, acquire new weapons and upgrade abilities. You will also reportedly be able to interact with main characters from the series and the game would feature endgame content to “keep the players entertained for years.”
Transformers: Impact was supposed to release in early access in 2018, followed by a full release in 2019, which obviously did not happen.
However in the updated documents it mentions that a beta will arrive on October 31st, 2021 and a full release to launch by April 30th, 2022.

It should come as no surprise that the developer Leyou and its publisher Tencent would want to get in on this “looter shooter” live-service formula that has been implanted so well by the likes of Destiny and Warframe.
However as the likes of Anthem and Battleborn have proven, and perhaps The Division to an extent, this is a genre that is not so easily replicated
At this stage I’m personally burnt-out from the live-service looter shooters genre, but the Transformers license does at least catch my attention.
As always with leaks and rumours, take this with a pinch of salt until confirmed – though from the sounds of things we might not have too long to wait…!
