Nine Sols is a “Sekiro-inspired” 2D game from Red Candle Games with a gorgeous art style and it looks amazing. 2D Sekiro? Bring it on!
Red Candle Games previously developed the indie first-person horror Devotion. This is an atmospheric horror game set in a 1980s Taiwan apartment. It’s a gritty, nightmarish horror that is well worth checking out if you can.
So, Nine Sols is certainly a different direction for developers Red Candle Games, and it’s a game for which we cannot wait.
Nine Sols is “a lore rich hand-drawn 2D action platformer with Sekiro-inspired deflection-focused combat,” tweeted the developers. “Embark on a journey of Asian fantasy, explore the land once home to an ancient alien race & follow a vengeful hero’s quest to slay 9 Sols, rulers of a forsaken realm.”
Red Candle Games also shared a small snippet of gameplay for Nine Sols, and it was enough to give us a taste of how good this game might be. Judging from the small gameplay snippet, it reminds me if someone merges Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice with indie darling Journey into a gorgeous, pixel art 2D world.
This looks so good!
No release date or platforms have been revealed for Nine Sols. However, hopefully, we will see its release on multiple platforms in 2022.
