The countdown to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare has officially begun as we’re now just a matter of hours away from the game’s launch. Although it’s hard to believe that anyone looking to preorder the game might not have already done so, it seems Walmart is hoping that’s the case.
Offering up a new last-minute preorder bonus, Walmart is now offering three hours of 2XP for Modern Warfare when you pre-order the standard game. The deal is available for both Xbox One and PlayStation 4. It’s not a bad bonus per se, but it’s not a huge boost. It’s also a strange one to have revealed just two days before the game’s release, but there you go. Thanks, Walmart, I guess?
What’s more interesting is the second promotion the store is running. The Walmart website writes that shopping at their store even if you don’t buy the game there can net you some bonuses too.
As stated on the website, if you purchase select items from a Walmart store (looks like Doritos, Mountain Dew, or Mountain Dew Amp Game Fuel to name a few) then you’ll get a code.
Enter the code on the Mountain Dew website and “unlock 2XP with every code entered.” There’s also the opportunity to win 2XP for a year, and let’s face it, you were gonna buy Doritos and Mountain Dew anyway.
The hype for CoD MW is more real than ever, especially since Activision has again confirmed that there won’t be a loot box system. Instead the game will have a new Battle Pass system.
Activision writes: “All functional content that has an impact on game balance, such as base weapons and attachments, can be unlocked simply by playing the game.
“The new Battle Pass system will allow players to see the content that they are earning or buying. Battle Passes will launch timed to new, post-launch live seasons, so you can unlock cool new Modern Warfare-themed content that matches each season.”
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will be available on PS4, Xbox One, and PC from October 25.
