The upcoming third-person RPG Dungeons & Dragons: Dark Alliance is coming to Xbox Game Pass on day one [via Polygon].
Based on Wizard of the Coast’s tabletop universe, Dungeons & Dragons: Dark Alliance is a four-player co-op set within the Icewind Dale.
Recently, we were treated to a new gameplay trailer, which gave us a glimpse of the RPG’s explosive combat. Featuring the dulcet tones of Ozzy Ozborne, the trailer also introduced us to the series’ iconic heroes, Drizzt, Catti-brie, Bruenor, and Wulfgar.
Of course, you don’t have to know anything about D&D to enjoy Dark Alliance. However, the fact Drizzt Do’Urden is a playable character in the game is a major selling point.
The game is also set to feature various monsters and antagonists plucked straight from the bowels of the Forgotten Realms. It’s also worth mentioning that Dark Alliance is a spiritual successor to Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance, which recently got a re-release on the PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch.
Not completely sold on Dark Alliance’s concept? Don’t worry; the game’s developer, Tuque Games, has you covered. According to a recent post on Xbox Wire, the Dark Alliance team will be streaming the game on Twitch and YouTube every Friday until the 18th of June. The live event will also feature special guests, making it somewhat of a weekly event!
While Dark Alliance is making its way to various other platforms, the RPG’s Game Pass reveal is pretty exciting. The fact that the game is coming to both console’s and PC through the subscription service means more players will be able to experience the realm of Dungeons & Dragons.
Again, you don’t really have to know much about the game’s source material to enjoy what it has to offer. However, Dark Alliance’s hack ‘n’ slash RPG mechanics could serve as a gateway into the world of D&D and tabletop games alike.
Dungeons & Dragons: Dark Alliance is coming to PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC on 22nd June 2021.
