EA Gives First Look At What Can Only Be Battlefield 6

EA Play kicked off last night (June 18), offering up a sprinkling of new announcements and a teaser of what’s to come from Electronic Arts. One of those things was (most likely) Battlefield 6, which wasn’t confirmed to be Battlefield 6, but looked a heck of a lot like Battlefield 6.

Sharing some info about EA and the future of gaming, the livestream showed off snippets of early footage and some artwork while talking about DICE (see what I mean? Totally Battlefield 6!)

The clips were confirmed to be “work in progress” next-gen footage from an upcoming game, and though we didn’t get to see much, we did get some bits here and there.

What’s most interesting is that the content seems to show the game is set it in the past, which may put to bed rumours of Battlefield 6 taking place in the present day. It’s meagre offerings, but you can check them out in the video below (timestamp: 45:47 – 45:58.)

Earlier this year, EA seemingly confirmed that a 2021 release is on the cards for Battlefield VI. The news comes via VGC, who shared a statement from an EA spokesperson on the matter.

The statement reads as follows: “The team at DICE is working on the standalone Battlefield V update releasing this summer, and continuing their work on delivering Community Games,

“While the studio’s vision for Star Wars Battlefront II is now complete with this week’s The Battle on Scarif Update, the servers, in-game challenges, recurring events and game support will continue as the game lives on with players and the community. We’re looking forward to hearing players’ stories for both games, for years to come.

“Longer term, the studio is focused on the future of Battlefield that we’ll be bringing to players in 2021.”

A wider announcement on Battlefield 6’s release has not yet been made.
