EA Reveals New Star Wars Game, Star Wars: Squadrons

EA has just officially announced its next Star Wars game, Star Wars: Squadrons. Revealed during Geoff Keighley’s Summer Game Fest live stream, the game debuted its first trailer, which is definitely looking like Star Wars.

As explained by Keighley, EA Play’s showcase will go into more detail on the upcoming new game, so expect more details coming Thursday, June 18.

The game’s description reads as follows: “Buckle up, take full control of starfighters such as the X-wing and TIE fighter, and feel the adrenaline of strategic first-person 5 vs. 5 multiplayer dogfights alongside your squadron. In a fateful campaign set near the conclusion of the Galactic Civil War, learn what it means to be a pilot in a thrilling STAR WARS™ single-player story.

STAR WARS™: Squadrons is available October 2, 2020 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Origin PC, Steam, Epic Games Store, and Virtual Reality (VR) on PlayStation®4 and PC with cross play support Tune in to EA Play on June 18, 4PM PT to watch the gameplay world premiere of STAR WARS™: Squadrons.”

“Through the collaboration of the teams at Motive and Lucasfilm, we’ve been able to create a high-fidelity starfighter experience with an authentic storyline that invites Star Wars fans to explore never-before-seen corners of the galaxy in their own ship. We’re excited to show all this in action this week at EA Play Live.” 

Star Wars: Squadrons will offer “rich cosmetic and gameplay customization options with rewards and bonuses that are earned solely through gameplay. As players move up the ranks, they’ll earn components  such as weapons, hulls, engines and shields to customize the performance of their starfighters; and gain cosmetic items to customize their cockpit, ship exteriors, and appearance of their pilot. In addition, players will be able to squad up with their friends and play against others, regardless of platform, as cross-play will be supported on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC, and VR.”

The game will also feature a single-player story which “brings to life events following the Battle of Endor when the Rebel Alliance has successfully destroyed the Death Star II.”

Star Wars: Squadrons will release on PC, PS4 and Xbox One, October 2.
