EA has been teasing the open sandbox elements of Battlefield 6 ahead of the upcoming game’s big reveal.
During an interview with GamesBeat, Electronic Studios CEO Laura Miele teased the open sandbox features of the upcoming Battlefield.
While the new Battlefield hasn’t been officially revealed yet, the banners and profile pictures on the official Battlefield social media pages have recently changed. This perhaps indicated to fans that an official announcement is on the way, which aligns with rumours of an upcoming trailer.
Official news on the next Battlefield has been a long time coming, especially as there have been countless rumour and speculation leaks over the last several months.
EA CEO Laura Miele has at least given us an official tease on the kind of sandbox fun that we can have in this year’s Battlefield instalment.
“It is a sandbox that DICE has always provided players with weapons and vehicles and destruction in the environment. And then these crazy ‘only-in-Battlefield’ moments happen. This emergent play comes from players,” said Miele.
“So as you can imagine, taking that strength, and taking that superpower in this franchise and building on that in the future game is definitely part of our strategy.
“So new modes that are going to be added to the game experience are really in service of this ability that we want to give players to have a bigger impact on their experience.”
At this time we have no details as to when the next Battlefield will be officially announced, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s revealed within the next month or two.
Traditionally, Battlefield games usually release around October to November, so I’d say that the announcement is probably just around the next corner. We already know the game is due this year.
