Sorry folks, but Elden Ring isn’t getting an easy mode. Though seriously, we all knew that was never going to happen.

Elden Ring creator Hidetaka Miyazaki has been very open during a recent interview with The New Yorker. The famed developer has “apologised” to those that find his games too difficult, as well as stating its difficulty is part of its identity.
It seems that every time a new game arrives from studio FromSoftware, the conversation of an easy difficulty always props up. It’s a debate that won’t be going away anytime soon. Yet I don’t think an easy mode will ever be implemented. Unless it’s courtesy of mods.
Should there be a choice?
To play devil’s advocate, while I firmly believe that overcoming the odds is all part of FromSoftware’s identity, I wouldn’t be bothered in the slightest if there was an option of easy difficulty.
As long as the default option remains true, why would it bother me if Keith from the other side of the world chose an easy setting? After all, it would have no impact whatsoever on my experience.
Discussing further on the topic of the difficulty in FromSoftware titles, Miyazaki said: “We are always looking to improve, but, in our games specifically, hardship is what gives meaning to the experience. So, it’s not something we’re willing to abandon at the moment. It’s our identity.”
