FromSoftware producer Yasuhiro Kitao has revealed that it will take around 30 hours to finish the story of the upcoming Elden Ring.
Speaking during an interview at the Taipei Game Show 2022, transcribed by VGC, Kitao said: “This will differ significantly by the player, but in terms of targets set during development, the idea is that the main route should be able to be completed within around 30 hours.”
Obviously, as Kitao alludes to above, each story campaign length will depend on the individual playing. For example, some players might want to blast through the campaign. However, another player might want to take their time to explore the realm of Lands Between.
30 hours and then some!

Elden Ring will be full of side-quests, secrets, and boss encounters to discover. So, no doubt, if you want to make the most out of Elden Ring, you will surely well exceed the 30-hour estimate. Not to mention players will encounter more challenging enemies with a New Game Plus.
“The game as a whole is quite massive and contains many dozens more hours’ worth of gameplay, but if we are talking about the main route only, it shouldn’t take much longer than that,” added Kaito.
Furthermore, at the Taipei Game Show, Kitao has also confirmed that Elden Ring has gone gold ahead of its release next month. Going gold means that the game has finished its main cycle of development and is just about ready to ship to PC and consoles.
