Bethesda’s Todd Howard has confirmed that The Elder Scrolls 6 is finally in pre-production, confirming reports earlier in the year.
A Twitter user by the name of Timur222 spotted a Bethesda employee mentioning The Elder Scrolls 6 in their LinkedIn profile. The profile in question read that Bethesda is “currently in full production on Starfield, its first new universe in 25 years, and pre-production on the highly-anticipated The Elder Scrolls VI.”
Three major games are on the way
However, we have since learned that officially, the highly anticipated RPG is in fact in pre-production, as confirmed by Mr Howard himself. Furthermore, now that the development of Starfield is coming to the end of its production, Bethesda’s main focus will soon shift towards TES6.
The news confirming that TES6 has entered pre-production was revealed in an interview with Todd Howard by IGN’s Ryan McCaffrey during a Summer of Gaming 2022 video.
When talking about Bethesda’s roadmap, Todd Howard confirmed that following the release of Starfield, The Elder Scrolls 6 will be next, followed by the new Fallout game. Other than that, details were very vague, but it’s nice to know that development of the next Elder Scrolls game has begun.
release could be years away
That being said, we do not know when TES6 will arrive. However, considering that Bethesda has not only Starfield but also Redfall to release in 2023, I think it’s probably a safe bet to assume the release of The Elder Scrolls 6 will still be a few years away.
