Epic Games Paid An Insane Amount For Control Exclusivity

Control is a seriously hot game right now and it seems that Epic Games paid out of the wazoo for its exclusivity on the Epic Games Store.

A financial report from Digital Bros, the parent company of Control’s publisher 505 Games, shows that Epic picked up the game rights for €9.49 million. That’s roughly $10.45 million USD.

Yikes.

Of that figure, 45% goes to 505 Games, with the rest going to Remedy.

To put that $10 million into perspective, the iconic Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 cost arounds $50 million USD to actually make.

A rep from Epic told GameDaily.Biz: “We don’t comment on the terms of our deals…Everyone should play Control; it’s really good.”

It seems like a sound investment for the multi-billion-dollar Epic Games. Scoring amazingly well with both critics and players, Control is one of the best games of 2019.

If you haven’t played it yet, Control’s official description reads as follows: “You play as Jesse Faden, a new Director of a secretive agency in New York, taken over by otherworldly threat. This is her story.

“Grab hold of your Service Weapon, utlilize your superhuman powers and get ready to regain Control. #ControlRemedy

Right now there’s still time to pick up some Batman games for free from the Epic Games Games.

Six full and complete games from two Batman trilogies can be yours to download and keep forever (as long as you keep your account with the Epic Store): the entire Batman Arkham series from Rocksteady, and the ever-delightful LEGO Batman series.

The only caveat to downloading these games is that a) yes, you have to sign up to the Epic Store, and b) though Arkham Asylum and Arkham City are the GOTY editions and include all DLC, Arkham Knight’s DLC isn’t included and isn’t available on the store.

You can pick up the Batman games here on the Epic Games Store up until September 26th, so best cancel your weekend plans right now.
