My, oh my. E3 2018 has been phenomenal. It seems like every single publisher has gone all out.
One of the biggest showings so far has to be from EA. So let’s take a look at everything EA showed during E3 2018.
There’s a lot to get excited about – whether you’re a fan of sports games, Battlefield, Star Wars, or want to see something new entirely, there’s something on EA’s E3 plate for you this year.
Battlefield V
Perhaps one of the biggest headlines for E3 in its entirety is Battlefield V. It was confirmed during E3 2018 that Battlefield V will have a battle royale mode to compete with Fortnite and Call of Duty Black Ops 4.
We also know now that Battlefield V will be the most revolutionary game in the franchise yet. And no, we’re not just saying that for the wow factor. From what I’ve heard from those that have played early access gameplay during E3, Battlefield V looks and feels like the most refined version of the series we’ve ever seen.
Small tweaks everywhere make huge differences – health doesn’t regenerate without help from others now and movement is much more fluid. Players will also have to rely much more on their squad for help.
We’re very excited to see how Battlefield V pans out when it launches in October this year.
NBA Live
NBA Live was showcased to us with the tagline ‘your league, your court, your way.’ It’s a great way to explain exactly what NBA Live 19 is all about.
In NBA Live 19, there will be a core focus on building your own player and grinding to improve your skills on the court. You can squad up with your mates and play in leagues or hit up the street courts. Player progression has improved massively, and growing your own 5 man squad will involve more input from the player.
After EA’s huge controversy surrounding Battlefront 2’s microtransactions, we’re just hoping that the microtransactions are toned down a little this year.
You’ll be able to play NBA Live 19 on September 7.
Madden
Madden 19 will be a big hit this year. Not only is it getting its usual yearly refresh, but it will also be coming to PC for the first time in a long time.
We still don’t know very much about how Madden 19 will be different from the past year’s version, but we’re expecting more of a focus on the story mode again. Madden 19 will be pushed out on August 10.
Unravel Two
Guess what? Unravel Two was announced during EA’s E3 2018 press conference and it’s already available to download and play.
For those unaware, Unravel 2 is a direct sequel to the first game. In Unravel, you play as a ball of yarn that’s assumed the form of a human. You have to use your yarn to navigate the world and solve puzzles.
Unravel 2 is essentially an action puzzle side scrolling game, and the first game got a lot of love. This time around, there will be two yarn creatures and you can ask a friend to help you play.
Sea of Solitude
Sea of Solitude is EA’s next ‘EA Originals’ game. It was unveiled during E3 and it looks like a stunning piece of art transformed into a video game.
Sea of Solitude is based in an alternative reality where humans that get lonely turn into monsters. The protagonist slowly starts to turn into a monster during the game.
Apparently, the creator of the project, Cornelio Geppert, was at the lowest point of her life when creating this game. It’s a dark, touching reflection of what loneliness can do to a person.
If you like games that touch on your heartstrings a little, such as Inked, you’ll love Sea of Solitude. No specific release day has been revealed but the release window is 2019.
Anthem
We finally got to see some gameplay of Anthem during EA’s E3 2018 conference. We found out that players will team up together to take control of exo suits as they explore massive open worlds.
Anthem is a role playing game that’ll offer a similar progression system to Destiny 2, as far as we’re aware.
There will be weekly ‘stories’ that will encourage players to keep coming back. Whilst Anthem may be more enjoyable when playing with friends, you won’t be punished if you play alone.
Command and Conquer Rivals
Command And Conquer is coming back as a free to play game called Rivals.
It will be a fast paced 1v1 game that takes what makes C&C so special and compresses it into a small package. There’s a lot we don’t know yet, but we can expect intense, 5-10 minute games, lots of strategy, and unfortunately, microtransactions.
Jedi Fallen Order (New Star Wars Game)
The team behind Titanfall are working on a brand new Star Wars game called Jedi Fallen Order. It’s a game that will touch on the story that happens shortly after episode 3. It will focus on a padawan that has escaped after Order 66 was executed.
It will show a dark reflection of the fall of the Jedi Order and the rise of the empire, and it should contain some epic lightsaber action and RPG elements.
Unfortunately, that’s all we know so far. Jedi Fallen Order is set for a late 2019 release.
Battlefront 2 Clone Wars DLC
The final piece of news we have from the EA camp this week is that Battlefront 2 will be getting a new Clone Wars DLC.
Players will finally be able to play during the Clone Wars era. With this era will come a number of new heroes, including clone wars Anakin, Count Dooku, clone wars Obi-Wan Kenobi, and General Grievous.
No details on when the Clone Wars DLC will drop yet, but we know that more content is coming to the Han Solo season this week.
